Im Jahre 2019 veröffentlichten Greet Death ihr Debütalbum “New Hell”. Das melancholische Post-Rock Album mit teilweise shoegazigen Einschüben beeindruckte auf ganzer Linie. Mittlerweile haben die aus Flint, Michigan kommenden Greet Death bei Deathwish Records ihr zu Hause gefunden und in diesem Jahr mit dem Song “I Hate Everything” bereits einen neuen Track veröffentlicht. Nun folgt mit “Your Love Is Alcohol” zum Jahresende ein weiterer Song, der an Schönheit kaum zu überbieten ist. Der Song verkörpert auf einfühlsame Weise den melancholisch tragischen Drang im Sound der Band. Die ansonsten durchaus gängigen Reflexionen und Brechungen werden in “Your Love Is Alcohol” nur angerissen und wo sonst Stücke unter ihrem emotionalen Gewicht irgendwann einknicken, hat man nun den Eindruck, dass “Your Love Is Alcohol” schon längst gebrochen ist. Greet Deaths Multi-Instrumentalist Logan Gaval kommentiert: “I wrote ‘Your Love Is Alcohol’ in July of 2020. Around that time, my girlfriend and I would hang out after work at my parents’ house and pass a bottle of Tito’s Vodka back and forth and listen to my parents watching Fox News. Getting drunk with my girlfriend is one of my favorite things to do so I wrote a song about it. We recorded the song with our friend and new bass player Jackie Kalmink. I’m very excited to see what we can create before the heat death of Earth.”
